In Catalon (northern Spain), instead of just finding gifts under a tree they have a tradition of beating a “Tió de Nadal” (Christmas Log) or “Caga Tió” (Shit Log) with a stick until gifts fall out of it’s rear end. When it doesn’t have any more gifts, it drops a salt herring or urinates. read more here

Also, the Catalans in Spain have added an extra character that is not found in the manger scenes of any other culture. In addition to Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the Shepherds and company, Catalans have the character known as the Caganer.
